Nostalgia Strikes Back

This post is in response to my post made on 24 July, 2016. That was a day I was full of hopes, positivism and nostalgia. I was finding it hard to forget my coaching friends, I missed all the fun we had in the 2 years of IITJEE preparation. The fact is that my feelings still remain the same. I still miss those good old days, when we used to live together. Meeting for 4 hours a day, 4 days a week, we were attached to each other like a family. We probably knew of each other more than their own families. My post was nothing but an attempt to cure my homesickness.
Today is the 23rd of November, which means 4 complete months have passed since I put that post. I was just scrolling in my history of Firefox, and I saw this website. Something triggered in me, and I went on to read my old posts. And this post triggered all my senses. It makes me realize that here in college, even though we are together for 24 hours a day, we know nothing of each other. I don't even know who is my well wisher and who is not. Coaching was so simple, here real life is so hard. It makes life so difficult when you don't know who is your real friend, and who is with you for a purpose. It gets dull are people here are not sporting enough to take small jokes on themselves, and not smart enough to play pranks on others.

All that anyone here seems to be bothered about is 'Grades', 'CGPA', 'Placements', 'Package', 'CTC' and other similar things. This reminds me of something I heard way back in 2009.
Yahan pe koi naye ideas ki baat hi nahi karta hai sir, inventions ki baat hi nahi karta hai. Yahan pe baat karte hain toh sirf marks ki, ya fir USA mein naukri ki. Yahan pe gyaan nahi bat raha hai sir, yahan pe ye sikhaaya ja raha hai ki marks kaise laate hain.
That's right. This is from 3 Idiots. Dialogue by Ranchordas Chanchad or Phunsukh Wangdu(Aamir Khan)

This is very true for Thapar as well. Why is a computer science student studying classes? Not because he is interested in how things work, how a program is structured. It is because that is a part of syllabus. Studying it will give him a good grade, hence a good CGPA, which would mean better job prospects. That ends the purpose of studying. Guarantee a job with a good CTC to everyone, and see how many study. Then you know who are studying, and the others are simply exploiting the weaknesses in the systems to gain marks. How sad.
No questions to test the grasp of a student on concepts, the questions aim to check your learning ability and have no real life significance altogether.
